Comment on this post with an intro to one of the songs we're singing
at the concert. Good intros TELL THE AUDIENCE SOMETHING INTERESTING,
such as the background of the artist/composer, a story about the song,
insight into our process of learning the song, or something interesting
to listen for when we sing the song.
Alternate Homework option: Draw a beautiful cover for the program.
Theme: Shakespeare!

6th Grade soloists
It is never easy to choose soloists. But it is usually easy to separate the people who didn't learn it from those who did and could do it. EVERYONE who auditioned today learned it and sounded great singing! That made choosing really hard. To make myself feel better, I gave everyone an understudy- if the soloist is sick or absent, that way we have a backup.
Congratulations to ALL of you who auditioned- if this is the last time I see you audition, I'll be VERY disappointed.
Have a great weekend!
Cy-
Soloist: Evyatar G Understudy: Astrid K

6th Grade Chorus Name suggestions
We are looking for a new name for 6th grade chorus! 6th grade chorus is too long and sounds too much like 5th grade chorus, which it is not. Put your name suggestions in the comments!
Let It Grow!
Solo auditions on Thursday, April 6! Solos: Cy, Dan and Rose (duet) and Marie. You may change names if you prefer a different name to fit your gender, but note that Cy, Rose and Marie need to rhyme. (Maybe Di, Joe, and Lee?)

A Ca-awesome
Saturday night I went to the International Collegiate A-C Collegiate Semifinals at MIT. It was prety great, except for the judging, which was TERRIBLE. The U Toronto TBA, despite their terrible name (tunes. beats. awesome.) was clearly the best and took 3rd; the group that won, Yale's Out of the Blue, was not even 3rd best. Here's TBA's performance, unfortunately from an odd angle but you can still appreciate their great choreography.
Song 1: Crazy
Song 2: Not Over You
Song 3:
Infatuation

Fun fact- remember how Don Quixote is in love with a bar maid/princess? Her name is Dulcinea.

Seeking Suggestions
for songs for our spring concert, theme: Now!
(Loose interpretation of now allowed- anything in this 21st century or so.)
Note: suggestions must be:
-school appropriate
-instrumentally feasible
-might not get picked no matter how awesome they are
Happy thinking!

The Final Countdown
8 days til the All City Concert! 3 weeks and one day til the Bigelow Chorus Concert! 3 weeks and 4 days til Jr District Auditions!
Two things can happen when the final countdown begins. You can get stressed and crazy, or you can get psyched. While I'll admit to occasionally leaning towards the former, always aim for the latter!
Here is a ridiculous song I used to play in band to get the crowd psyched at games. It's from the '80's. It is... well, you can tell it's from the '80s.
