6th Grade Homework

Comment on this post with an intro to one of the 3 songs we're singing at the concert. Good intros TELL THE AUDIENCE SOMETHING INTERESTING, such as the background of the artist/composer, a story about the song, insight into our process of learning the song, or something interesting to listen for when we sing the song.

Alternate Homework option: Draw a beautiful cover for the program.

Good luck!

  1. The song "Under the Sea" is my favorite song that the 6th grade chorus sings. It is an upbeat, well known song that has a very nice melody. We started by learning the last part of the song first, which I thought was a little odd. But, as always, Ms. Alberts had a reason. The rest of the song was so much easier to learn when we started from the end. So, without further ado, the 6th grade chorus gives you "Under the Sea"!

  2. The song that we are about to sing next is "All For The Best". This song is from the musical GodSpell. The lyrics are about when your feeling down and your life really stinks, but knowing that it won't be like that forever. And now to not drone on any longer this is "All For The Best"!

  3. "Under the Sea" is my favorite song that we are singing. "Under the Sea" is an upbeat song from the Disney movie "The Little Mermaid". It has a nice fun tune and we are glad to be perfoming it for all of you. As always Ms. Alberts had us start with the harder part of the song so we began with the ending, but don't worry, tonight we are singing it in order. Without further ado, we give you, "Under the Sea"!

  4. When we first started singing "The Rhythm of Life", I thought it was going to be boring. As we started rehearsing it, I started to enjoy it more. At the beginning, we sing in unison. Then we we split into three different parts for the chorus. The second verse is in unison again, and so on. As you can tell, this song has many different parts to it. The chorus had a really fun time learning this song thanks to Ms. Alberts! Now, the Bigelow sixth grade chorus presents "The Rhythm of Life."

  10. Under the Sea is a traditional favorite. Many of you might read the program, see this song listed, and think that you will know what to expect. But much to your surprise, you will find three different parts, much harmony, and an amazing upbeat rhythm. I hope that you enjoy this next piece as much as we have had learning it!

  11. Walt Disney's production of 'The Little Mermaid', released in the year 1989, was one of the most popular disney films ever made. The story is about a Ariel, a mermaid, that has a dream about growing legs and becoming a human. Along the way, disaster strikes and a man falls overboard of a ship on the sea during a storm. Ariel rescues this man and falls in love with him. Ariel's father, King Triton orders Sebastian, a crab with a passion for music, to keep an eye on Ariel, for he suspects something fishy is going on. Sebastian tries to pursuade Ariel that her life is perfect as it is by doing a musical number entitled, 'Under The Sea'. This song is peppy and bright with many different instruments and rhythms. This song includes many solos and different melodies and harmonies. in the end however, Ariel is not satisfied and continues to persue her dream of becoming a human. Although, we hope that you will be satisfied with this song and the way we sing it. And now, without Further ado, the Bigelow Middle School Sixth Grade Chorus presents... Under the sea!

  12. All for the Best from the broadway musical Godspell, is a very inspiring tune. It has very encouraging lyrics that tell the person the song is being sung to, that even though their life may seem dull and grim at the moment, that when they pass on and go to heaven, everything will be alright and there is nothing to worry about. This song was a very popular song throughout the chorus, and myself and a couple of fellow chorus members liked this song so much, we even made a parody of it entitled All For The Fat. I hope that you will enjoy this song as much as We do. and now... Without anymore delays, the Bigelow Middle school sIxth grade Chorus presents, All For The Best!!!!!

  13. the next song we are going to perform is called All For The Best and is from the play Gotspell. it is an upbeat, perky, jazz-handsy sort of song that a couple of chorus members wrote a hilarious parody to. but that's another story. So, now bigelow 6th grade chorus presents All For The Best!

  14. "Under the sea; Under the sea; When the sardine begin the beguine it's music to me." Under the sea is an upbeat song that we have practiced hard to get just right. The composer Alan Menken created this masterpiece as well as other disney favorites and we hope you like what we have made of it. Thank you for coming and the 6th grade chorus now gives you "Under the Sea".

The song 'under the sea' is one you all have probably heard before. That is because it is a pretty famous song from 'The Little Mermaid'. We all were excited to learn the song and now that we learned all the words we are able to perform it for you. So sit back and enjoy; or stand up dance to the upbeat music!

  16. This song is one you should all know, "Under the Sea" from "The Little Mermaid" the disney movie. In case you haven't heard it or seen the movie, this is a little recap to show you where this song comes in. So, Ariel is a mermaid who falls in love with a prince named Eric on shore. She's thinking about taking an evil octopuses deal and exchange her beautiful voice for feet so she can live happily ever after with her love on land (there is a catch, but I won't get into that right now.) So... while she is still deciding, her friend Sebastian makes it known that he doesn't like the idea at all. He sings her a song trying to convince her that under the sea is so much better than on land, even if there is a guy she likes. This is a really happy and outgoing song with a fantastic melody. We have worked very hard on this song and made it our own. So, it is my pleasure to introduce... "Under the Sea!"

  22. "The Rhythm of Life" is by far our hardest and most complex song. I think it's also the one we sing best. It has lots of different tunes in it as well as verses. For me, the toughest part to remember is a verse in the middle of the song that we repeat three times. It is the fastest line of the song, and quite a tongue twister. However, now that we've learned all of this piece, I think it sounds pretty great. The song has a real rhythm to it and and is full of energy, which I love. I hope you'll enjoy listening to "The Rhythm of LIfe" as much as we like singing it!

  23. Under the sea is probably the most well known song in our concert. It is featured in the classic Disney movie, The Little Mermaid. In the movie, Sebastian the crab is trying to convince Ariel the mermaid to not become human, and to love being under the water. We've taken this classic to a whole new level with harmony and different parts, and really enjoyed singing a song that we all know in our concert tonight. Please enjoy Under the Sea!
